Training of 474 Assistant Education Officers (AEOs) of 4 flood-affected districts of South Punjab – Rahim Yar Khan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Muzaffargarh and Leh was successfully completed under the foundation program of Punjab Human Capital Investment Project.
PMIU Program Director Mr. Farooq Rasheed inaugurated the training and emphasized the importance of this initiative to improve education infrastructure in flood affected areas. Maimoona Ashraf, Environmental Safeguard Specialist, Education Department, PHCIP, imparted training to the AEOs. She highlighted the importance of following environmental and social safeguards for successful completion of renovation and repair works. What. The purpose of this training was to inform these 474 AEOs about the measures to be taken for environmental and social protection through which construction and rehabilitation of flood affected schools will be possible. During this training The environmental and social protection policies of the World Bank were highlighted and the problems encountered in their implementation. AEOs were also trained in data collection and integration and the use of 123 AreGIS survey tools to improve the quality of work. Environmental and social considerations should also be taken into consideration.
The participants were informed about the GRM Mechanism (GRM (Helpline 1221) and Grievance Procedure of SED) for registering complaints received related to PHCIP programmes. Issues arising in this regard were discussed. The Assistant Education Officers were also briefed about the various platforms activated by the Punjab Government for the protection of women, including the Violence Against Women Act of 2010.
